§Common questions

Questions parents ask

My child is only in elementary school. Isn't this too early?

Elementary school is the right time to strengthen foundational reading, writing, mathematics, and learning habits. Family Foundations is not about pressuring children to choose a college early. It's about helping families build skills and preserve future opportunities.

My child already earns good grades. Do we still need this?

Strong grades are encouraging. Family Foundations can also help you understand future course options, enrichment opportunities, academic progression, and ways to keep your child appropriately challenged.

We can't afford expensive tutoring. Is there an option for us?

The self-paced Family Foundations curriculum is designed to provide a more affordable starting point. Direct tutoring is an optional additional service rather than a requirement.

Does the program guarantee Honors placement or Algebra I in middle school?

No. Placement depends on demonstrated readiness and school division requirements. Our role is to help students strengthen the skills needed to pursue appropriate opportunities.

Can MDA determine whether my child needs an IEP?

No. We can help parents understand educational processes and identify appropriate questions and resources, but school eligibility determinations are made through the applicable school evaluation process.
